2026

The Maayan brothers have been working together for many years, and their collaborative works have been successfully presented in galleries, museums, and biennials in Israel and internationally. Their practice is largely performative, revolving around cultural and material relations, intermedial encounters, and both direct and mediated interactions with audiences, art viewers, and passersby. Their work seeks to blur and disrupt the boundaries between the “high” and the “low”—both in terms of materials and aesthetics, and in the tension between performative action and the artistic object.

Roy Maayan holds an MFA from Tel Aviv University and a BFA from the Department of Ceramic Design at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem. He operates a ceramics studio in Kiryat Ono, alongside his independent artistic practice.

Erez Maayan is a Professor of Theatre and performance studies, Head of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Haifa, and Co-Artistic Director of Tmuna Theatre. He holds a PhD in Performance Studies from Tel Aviv University, as well as an MA and a BSc in Biotechnology from Tel Aviv University.

During the week, Roy and Erez created new work and presented workshops and lectures for visiting audiences.
