2025

We are pleased to welcome the 30th artist-in-residence at the Carmel Forest Estate, Shira Gepstein — a highly regarded painter and sculptor in the Israeli art scene. Gepstein has held numerous solo exhibitions, including a 2022 exhibition at the Mishkan Museum of Art, Ein Harod, curated by Yaniv Shapira, and she is the recipient of the Ministry of Culture’s Award for Artistic Encouragement (2024).

Through unexpected visual encounters in her paintings, Gepstein critically examines the contemporary visual fabric that emerges from the interplay of historical artistic motifs, Israeli socio-political realities, and personal chapters from her life. Her work is deeply rooted within a contemporary, long-lasting, and highly relevant context.

During her residency in the Carmel Forest, Shira offered lectures about her work, daytime and nighttime painting workshops, and even a sculpting workshop using an architectural foam material.
