Hope | Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival, UAE

"Hope" - RAKFAF21 - A collection of Israeli video artworks, for the first time in the UAE

Very happy and proud to be the first curator to open a contemporary Israeli exhibition in the UAE. I was invited by the RAK FINE ART FESTIVAL art fair, which opens its doors once a year, to curate a video art exhibition that will be displayed in the main exhibition of the fair, which takes place in its ninth version. Organized and funded by Al Qassimi Fondation, for Education, Arts and Culture . Al Qasimi Foundation is sponsored by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi

The event will last a month and will open Friday, February 5, 2121. The art is displayed in a 17th century fishing village, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, named Al Jazirah Al Hamra Heritage Village, consisting of 480 renovated houses , which are a stage for various exhibitions and cultural activities throughout the year. The art is displayed in the various houses and alleys of the old village.

The fair will feature works by international and local artists from all media with an emphasis on photography and short films, around the theme of "Hope" which has been determined as a horizontal theme for the treatment of the various exhibitions.

I curated a video art exhibition consisting of four iconic Israeli works that will be screened in the main space of the festival on a screen designed for this purpose. The fair committee selected the four works on display out of six I proposed. The thought of choosing the works was in relation to the subject, but also in the degree of directness in relation to the subject of the patient and the understanding of the audience, which is less conceptual and more direct.

Participating artists: Dana Levy, Shachar Marcus, Eyal Segal and Tamir Tzadok.
